Support available from the Commission

Support is available from the Commission for:

• Catholic ethos: Advice on the nature, function and purpose of Catholic schools. Support in drawing up mission statements and with the spiritual and moral principles of Catholic schools.
• School leadership: Support for school and college leadership and management.
• Governor support and training: Bulletins for governors and training courses.
• Governor appointments: Administration of foundation governor appointments.
• Continuing professional development: Professional courses and conferences for teachers and headteachers related to their responsibilities within Catholic schools.
• Appointments to leadership posts: Advice on appointments to posts of headship and deputy headship; representing the Archbishop at selection processes.
• Religious education: A secondary schools adviser and two primary schools advisers are available for advice and information on all aspects of primary and secondary religious education.
• Buildings: Advice on building and maintenance issues.  Administration of bids for funding.
• Places: oversight of provision of Catholic school places.
• Education law: Advice on the Law as it affects Catholic schools, especially with relation to contracts, disciplinary issues etc.
• RE inspection: Advice on Section 48 inspections and action plans and support for with other post-inspection issues.
• RE appointments: Assistance with appointments to the posts of co-ordinator in a primary school and heads of department in a secondary school or college.
• Personal and social education: Advice on formulating a policy on personal and social education, including sex education.
